Grown Up Gladrags is a mother and daughter team who share a passion for design and creativity.
We're not sure exactly how it all began but making and designing things has been a part of life since we can remember, with our first made to measure item modelled by a Sindy Doll.
Pauline (the dressmaker) made all her own clothes as a teenager and was finally persuaded to make a wedding dress for a friend at the age of 16... That was the start!
Studying for Fashion & Design and passing with distinction, Pauline moved on to encourage others to enter the world of creativity through teaching but continued to adapt designs for others including lingerie, wedding dresses and other garments.
"It's the thrill of making that special item for someone and seeing their obvious delight when a garment fits their personality and figure. It still gives me the same buzz as that first wedding dress I made when I was 16"
Jessica was not always as impressed by her Mum's talents as she should have been. Having clothes made for her was the norm and dreamt of shopping in a real shop like other girls. However, she soon came round. After studying for Art & Design and realising that having all her own designs made a reality by her Mum was not the norm she began to work closely with Pauline.
"Being able to have my ideas and designs turned into a reality by an amazing dressmaker has made me want others to experience the same thing. My Mum and I work great as a team together and GrownUp Gladrags enables us to really follow both our dreams"
GrownUp Gladrags is aimed at anyone who loves to own something a little bit special. Most of our items are unique, one-off's.
All our clothes and accessories are made with care and attention to detail.
Our designs are uniquely hand crafted from fabrics sourced from across the world.
